The Charles County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after an anonymous person called the front office of La Plata High School questioning if they had checked the building for bombs on Monday afternoon.
That same person then called a local police department and made a bomb threat at the school. It is believed to be the same person who left a threatening message at the school on Friday, May 12 making similar, as well as threatening other people in the region.
Officials say that the School Resource Officer assigned to the school was notified of the threat and an investigation has been launched.
Both calls appear to be random and not directed toward anyone in particular. No devices were located and the threat was ultimately deemed not to be credible by the sheriff's office.
The investigation into the calls is ongoing.
